Ash Creek Farm Martket located near Martinsburg, WV is proud to offer Uncle Toad's Fudge. Let me tell you the history behind Uncle Toad's Fudge. Harry P. Bageant, JR was born 1/25/23 in Berkeley Springs, WV. Why he was nicknamed Toad I have no idea. He only had a sixth grade education when he started working as a lumber jack. He left Berkeley Springs and was inducted into the Army on 2/27/43. He was a combat infantry rifleman with the 63rd Inf. Regt. 6th Division Co K. He had 4 months and 26 days of continental service and 2 years 4 months and 24 days of foreign service. He received numerous awards and medals. He was honorably discharged on 12/3/45.
After his service Harry returned to Berkeley Springs, WV and married my aunt Mildred Stotler on 12/11/48. He worked as a cook at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV. Harry and Mildred had one daughter who unfourtunately died at the age of 3. When I was born they sort of adopted me. He loved to cook. Uncle Toad would always bring me sweet treats that he had made. One of my favorites was his homemade chocolate peanut butter fudge. Uncle Toad died ironically at the VA Medical Center on July 13, 1991. When I was going through his things I found his recipe for his homemade fudge. I started making it for my family and they loved it. That is why Ash Creek Farm Market near Martinsburg, WV is excited to offer the best chocolate peanut butter fudge to you.
